HICAPS – Rebates from Private Insurance Cover
We offer the HICAPS facility which enables you to receive your private health rebate on-the-spot.
We just need your health fund membership card when paying for your treatment. Private health funds provide varying levels of cover for different therapies. Please contact your health fund for full details of these benefits.
Do I need a referral?
You do not usually require a referral from your Doctor to see any of our practitioners, However there are exceptions; including if you are a DVA cardholder, under the Medicare CDM program, or a Work Safe patient requiring an initial certificate for time off work. If you’re not sure it’s best to call us beforehand and explain your circumstances.
Rebates from Medicare – CDM program
The Chronic Disease Management (CDM) program began in 2004 (as the EPC program) to allow for registered Allied Health practitioners to treat patients under Medicare.
The Osteopaths, Psychologist, Podiatrist, and Dietitian at Bellarine Allied Health Group are registered to accept referrals for patients with chronic conditions under the CDM program, allowing patients to claim a rebate from Medicare. There is usually a gap amount that will not be covered by Medicare (please ask our receptionists for more information regarding gap amounts).
Consult your doctor to determine whether you qualify for this program.
Work Safe is a government authority that deals with injuries within workplaces. Our Osteopaths and Podiatrist can provide treatment for current or past workplace injuries, and aim to get you back to work as quickly as possible.
At your initial consultation you will need to provide us with the following:
• Your Work Safe claim number and/or date of injury
• Your Employers and Insurers details
• Any other relevant information (letters from GP, X-rays, scans)
Please note that a gap fee is charged for osteopathic treatment claimed under Work Safe.
The Transport Accident Commission is a government authority that deals with any claims that arise when someone is injured on a Victorian road. Our Osteopaths and Podiatrist are able to provide treatment for pain associated with these injuries.
When you have an accident you are responsible for your medical expenses up to a certain amount. When you have reached your medical excess the TAC will provide you with a letter stating this. If you provide us with this letter we are then able to charge you only the “gap” amount for any treatment – and we will then bill the TAC the remaining amount. We recommend you speak to our receptionists for further information regarding TAC claims and treatment.
Bellarine Allied Health Group is an approved service provider for the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) allowing our Osteopaths, Psychologist, Podiatrist, and Dietitian to provide their services without any gap payments.
A referral from the patient’s GP is required prior to the initial consultation, and annually thereafter.
